I believe that some software I installed (iTunes) or uninstalled (Nokia Music Manager), has made changes to my default Windows 7 installed codecs so that they no longer work. Can you see any? If there are any, how do I uninstall them? The "Using codecs" site you're referring to, I can't see to find any codecs for Windows 7 圆4 available there. I don't think I have any special codec packs installed. Among them is the "DMO MP3 Decoder DMO 0055 mp3dmod.dll. Has anyone got any ideas as might what have happened? It seems to me that either Nokia Music Manager or Apple iTunes have messed up my codecs when uninstalling/installing. VLC media player and iTunes are able to play all files that WMP is unable to play with no problems. The Media Center application behaves in the same manner. Neither C:\Users\Public\Music\Sample Music\Sleep Away.mp3, C:\Users\Public\Videos\Sample Videos\Wildlife.wmv or any other of the mp3 and wmv samples will play, giving me the same error.
Some files still play though, for instance the C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV\Sample Media\win7_scenic-demoshort_raw.wtv video sample.
